Embrace Pet Insurance Plans
Embrace offers pet insurance plans for dogs and cats with the following coverage options:
Accident And Illness Plan
This is Embrace’s standard plan and it provides coverage for your pet’s veterinary care related to accidents and illnesses. It covers a wide range of conditions and is one of the most comprehensive plans on the market.
This plan covers accidents and injuries such as broken bones, hit-by-car incidents, foreign body ingestions, dental emergencies, wounds, and more. It also covers illnesses like cancer, diabetes, infections, and others. Hereditary and congenital conditions are also covered.
Covered costs include diagnostics, lab work, treatments, hospitalizations, surgeries, and more. As an added bonus, this plan also covers alternative therapies not offered by all pet insurance. Alternative therapies include rehabilitation, acupuncture, hydrotherapy, laser therapy, and more.
Accident-Only Plan
This lower-cost option provides coverage for veterinary expenses strictly due to accidents your pet may have. It does not cover illnesses.
This includes things like broken bones, trauma, falls, hit-by-car accidents, burns, wounds, toxic ingestions, foreign body ingestions, and more.
Covered costs include diagnostics, lab work, treatments, hospitalizations, surgeries, rehabilitation, and more.
Wellness Rewards Plan
The wellness rewards plan is an optional add-on to help cover things like annual exams, vaccines, spays and neuters, dental cleanings, parasite screening, routine blood work, and other preventative care measures.
As an added bonus, Embrace’s wellness rewards plan can also be used for non-medical items like training, grooming, nutritional supplements, pet activity trackers, and more.
Wellness rewards work a little differently than most other pet insurance wellness plans. It is not actually an insurance plan, but rather a savings plan you’re paying into monthly for your pet’s wellness care.
State Availability
Embrace is available in all 50 US states and the District of Columbia. However, the Wellness Rewards Plan is not available in Rhode Island.
What Doesn’t Embrace Pet Insurance Cover?
Like all pet insurance plans, Embrace has its exclusions:
- Preexisting conditions: Any medical problems your pet had prior to enrollment are not covered.
- Illnesses or injuries during the waiting period: Similar to preexisting conditions, any illness or injury sustained during the waiting period will be excluded from coverage.
- Experimental treatments: Any treatments that are considered investigational, experimental, or beyond the standard scope of care in veterinary medicine like non-FDA approved medications or clinical trial treatments.
- Breeding costs: Any veterinary expenses related to breeding your pet such as ultrasounds, c-sections, and birthing care.
- Non-medically necessary items: Any tests, procedures, or treatments deemed not medically necessary such as DNA tests or cosmetic procedures.
Embrace Waiting Periods For Coverage
Pet insurance coverage doesn’t kick in until after a specific period of time. This is known as the waiting period.
Embrace waiting periods are:
- 2 days for accident coverage
- 14 days for illness coverage
- 6 months for orthopedic coverage
These waiting periods are fairly standard in the pet insurance industry. Most companies have a shorter waiting period for accidents than for illnesses. The extended waiting period for orthopedic coverage is more than some but less than others.
Embrace Insurance Costs
Like all pet insurance, monthly premiums for Embrace will vary based on many factors including your pet’s age, breed, sex, and location.
